Spikes & Baron DM Comet - Card of the Week #55

Card Name: End of Anubis (309-056)
Effect:  When this card is face-up on the field, negate all card effect of Magic, Trap, or monster that target graveyard, or activate at Graveyard.

Comment: In celebration of "Anubis" week...I would rewrite this card's review, in the new format.

This card, being release as the most wanted card from 309, comes as Secret Rare in the set. If you don't know what is Anubis, it is the Egyptian god of death. When saying a monster card with [Anubis] in it's name...it always have something to do with "negation"...(Anubis is evil...XDD)

Art:
When this card came out, this card's art was consider one of the best. Well, in days of 309, it is, although compare to now SOD or RDS, it's not. But, a decaying dog is nothing to laugh at...it could be crazy...but one thing, why Anubis is Blue in color??
RATING: 7.8/10

Stats/Requirement:
Anyway, this card stats is not that shabby. With 1 Tribute (Level 6), this card had the highest attack possible for them: 2500. The bad thing is, it have 0 defense, which means, when this card is switch to defense mode in any kind of way, the next thing you know, a snake could kill it...Also, as this card being a Demon sub-type, it would lack the reborning power of Undead deck...so,
RATING: 8.0/10

Effect:
At my first impression of this card, I call this card "Monster version of [Necrovalley] (301/EE1)". This card's effect is that, when this card is on the field, the Graveyard is almost "untouchable" (no Reborn, no [Saint Magician], etc.).

But compare to [Necrovalley], this card have two difference. First, being a monster card itself, no matter if this card's effect does not do much (it could disturb opponent's strategy a little), it could still have something "on your field to protect you". Second, there're two things that this card and [Necrovalley]'s effect is different when concerning the Graveyard.

You will ask "What's the difference??". The first thing this card is different from [Necrovalley] effect is: this card don't negate remove summoning card. That's mean this card cannot negate the summoning of the Chaos monsters, nor cards like [Dark Necrophia]. BUT remember one thing, this card DOES negate card effect that require you or your opponent to remove cards from Graveyard to activate (like [Chaos Rider - Gustav]).

But the good thing is, unlike Necrovalley, the second effect back this card out. This card also negate cards that activate at Graveyard. Which means, for those who follow ban, [Vampire Lord]'s effect cannot activate, [Hell Poemer]'s effect cannot activate. For those who DO NOT follow the ban...[Critter]/[Witch] cannot activate.
RATING: 7.6/10

TOTAL AVERAGE: 8.0/10 - This card, on one thing, stop both player almost 100% to disturb the Graveyard. But, since it's BOTH player, sometimes it would hurt yourself and disturb your own strategy. Although there're not much card that could actually "reborn" cards anymore (because of the ban), this card, being 2500/0, is annoying enough for opponent to enter "Kill mode". Too bad this card is a Demon, which lacks the reborning power of Undeads (unless using [Puppetmaster]...). But, as people playing Gravekeepers know how annoying is "Graveyard lock".
