Comment: Again, after a long long hiatus, it's time for me to finally write my first card review on the cover card of the set that was released almost a month ago. This cover card of Jack Atlas is not just a cover card, it is also the namesake of the set (the attack name). Anyway...
Art:
I would say like [Savior Star Dragon], an already good looking Dragon with the shiny (??) Savior Dragon combined is just freakishly look good. I don't have much to say here, but I believed that most of the dragon arts in any card game just impress people. This card looks more Magic-y than normal cartoon-y Yu-Gi-Oh Illustration (at least most of them), so yeah...
RATING: 10/10
Stats/Requirement:
This card, like the other Savior series, requires 2 specific monsters plus one for Synchro summon. Of course, for anyone that can do math, this card is 1+8+1, or, kind of hard. This process can be help, like the Savior Star, with cards like [Kinkabyo], or the restricted [One for One], or cards like [Jester Confi].
The attack strength of this card is of course high, I believed the highest of all Synchro monsters. This high attack combine with the aggro effects is of course not a bad thing, potentially creating OTK situation (of course, not an always as most of the time this card need some other card's help to do an OTK).
RATING: 4.2/10
Effect:
This card has 4 different effects, each with different uses.
The first effect maybe an important one. Although this card is a 4000 attack monster, you also have to worry about opponent having planned something for you and you wasted a lot of resource for naught. Therefore, this card has a semi-built-in Stardust Dragon effect except that this card just purely cannot be destroyed versus it protects everything. Of course, this card is not immune to everything, for example, an [Compulsary Evaluation Device] or [Dimensional Confinement] are still enemies, and of course [Honest].
The second effect of this card is a modification to the one of [Red Demon's Dragon]. Basically, instead of destroying monsters in defense mode on the field when this card attacks an defense mode, when this card attacks, everything in defense are gone. Of course, you may think "what about your own?". Well, one thing is that most of the time I would think this maybe the only monster on your field if you can successfully Synchro summon this without opponent being in big trouble. Two is that this destroy any last potential wall that blocks your attack. The only bad thing is that the timing of the effect is still after Damage Calculation, or, there is not really "free" direct attack if all opponent has are monsters in defense mode (for a "wall").
The third effect of this card is similar but different to the effect of [Savior Star Dragon]. Basically, both effects negate a monster's effect, but this one instead of you using it, this card get even MORE attack strength for more damages. Well, usually this card can get up to approximately, I would say, 5000-5500 attack, maybe more. This effect may create a semi-direct attack as there are almost 0 non-effect monsters in decks now-a-days (maybe except an Elemental Hero deck).
The last effect of this card is that like [Savior Star Dragon], this card can only rescue you for a turn before going back to Extra Deck to rest, with the original [Red Demon's Dragon] back to your field. People can choose to avoid this effect by using things like [Skill Drain] although it is just not that good of an idea (negate 3 pretty good effects for one and you put some useless junks in your deck that maybe useful for one or two instances). Again, I would say the chance of opponent having a next turn after this card is Synchro Summoned is slim, so this "drawback" may be not that bad of one after all...
RATING: 9.2/10
OVERALL - 8.0/10 - This card, while powerful with effects that have synergies with the attack strength and the purpose of this card, have the single drawback on "how to play it". It's not a bad card for fun purposes, but I don't really see anything about the resources required to play this card for this card to be put in competitive deck (and how slow this card can be). My purpose? IDK...humiliate CGI computer opponent, I guess? The thing about this card, or even [Savior Star], is that I sometimes found this to be "overkill" and maybe good only for dramatic purposes a.k.a. anime. |
