Comment: The second of my 2 reviews today. This time, I would look at the latest card from the "combined series" between Ally of Justice (AOJ) monsters and Genex monsters.
Art:
Well, this monster is called the "Triarm", or, not having 3 arms but have 3 different weapons. I could guess it is melee punch, rocket launcher, and maybe the missing Laser Sword or GN Drive...Anyway, this Genex machine is sure looking like it will hurt someone or being a robot guide or something...
RATING: 8.3/10
Stats/Requirement:
This card is a level 6 Machine type Synchro monster with stats of 2400/1600. In addition, the Tuner is limited to [Genex Controller] although the non-Tuners are not limited (but have 3 recommendations as seen from effect). Everything are very standard in terms of Synchro monster so I would not have much comment on that part. With [Genex Controller] at level 3, getting the non-Tuners can be kind of more pain than finding level 4s. As for the right Attributes, most of them are in Dark Attribute, with cards like [Ally Genex Changer] that can fix the attributes. There is really no limit on which of the other non-Tuner(s) you used anyway...
RATING: 8.1/10
Effect:
This card have the 3 different effects depending on the attribute of the monster you used. Let's look at each one...
Wind - randomly discard is always a pretty good effect. The only problem is that you do not have advantage here either as you have to discard a card yourself.
Water - Discard a card --> destroy a M/T. There may be better alternatives than this card, and also this card limits any effect activation to once per turn. So is it really that useful?
Dark - It destroy a Light Attribute monster then draw a card. This "AOJ" effect is as like all the other AOJ cards, good if opponent use that correct Light or Dark attribute or else the effects are useless.
Overall, are the effects on paper good? Well, yes. Which one is the best? I really cannot pick, all of them have its shining moment depending all on oponent's play (a big unknown). Of course, the easiest one (Dark) seems to have the best effect if there IS the Light Attribute monster on opponent's field. Otherwise, Hand-Des is always powerful, destroy M/T is always not a bad thing.
RATING: 7.5/10
OVERALL - 7.3/10 - The problem with this card is one that it cannot runs in all the deck as it requires either [Genex Controller] or [Recycle Genex] to even think about bringing this out. Afterward, the effects are pretty good, but also sometimes "meh", especially the Dark attribute effect where if opponent does not have Light attribute monster, you are screwed and this card is no more than a normal beatstick (not even largest...again have to mention this). |
