Article #82: World Revolution
Whenever I said I'm going to "catch up" on articles, so far so bad on the idea. Well, how bad, I realized that I had not even write a review article for a set that was released 2 months ago, no mention of ANYTHING, no new card reviews for the last who know how many months...ay
I will write then the set "first look" before the next set which is coming in a month. Have to finish this before all the world cup action!
Card Trends and theme:
As the first set of Series 7, the set did not bring in revolutionary things such as last series did (Synchro). However, it does bring in the "Synchro Fusion" which is combining Fusion monster that uses Synchro monster as materials. Otherwise, the set include the first Fusion monster, actually, for 2 years. To beat that record, there iare few Amazoness cards first time in almost 7 years(!). Also back is Psychic type, out of space is Core Chimail and Synchron.
For archetype wise, Eleki is greatly supported in the set. "Scrap" cards are also introduced in the set. "Natural" from Duel Terminal also seen its first boost in a main set. At last, there are more than usual of Beast type monsters in the set, and cards that affect several types at once. For the count, there are only 31 anime related cards in this set, lower than the last few sets.
Deck Types:
Here are some of the new deck types that I think people could create after this set, competitive or not.
- Scrap
- Eleki/Thunder (not exactly new)
- Miracle Synchro Fusion
For deck types that get boosts:
- Beast/Bird (those Unicorn cards)
- Natural
- Amazoness
- Psychic
Useful cards :
As usual, I will write down a list of cards that I think that can help some deck. Again, this list merely means that you should at least look at the card and somehow find space for it...or at least try....
- Effect Veiler
- Big Ape of Vanity (Vanity, indeed)
- Monoceros
- Unibird
- Trident Warrior
- Deltafly
- Scrap Chimera
- Scrap Goblin
- Scrap Hunter
- Scrap Golem
- Natural Mosquito
- Natural Bambooshoot
- Amazoness Sage
- Amazoness Queen
- Synchro Fusionist
- Wave Motion Dragon Knight - Dragonquites
- Ultimate Psychicker
- Thunder Unicorn
- Lightning Tricon (big, I guess...)
- Scrap Dragon
- Elekimaiera
- Double Cyclone (finally...)
- Scrap Squall (Cloud Squall #2 XD)
- Village of Amaonzess
- Fighting Spirit of Amaoness (just how they are...)
- Beast Rage
- Miracle Synchro Fusion (for the sake of the set theme)
- Pot of Greed and Humble
- Wavemotion Revival (ehh....)
- Chain Whirlwind
- Willpower of Amazoness
- Choice of Queen
- Beast Riser (more Crazy Beast boost attack)
Now, of course, my choice of worst card in the set...and it is?
I have no idea...seriously, a lot of cards in this set are not useful at all, so it is hard for me to choose the worst of the worst. Of course, this conclusion also come from sheer laziness on not wanting to choose a card...
Last word: Really, this set did not do much to change what is out there. Unlike the other first set of a series, this one did not bring in a LOT. But that is normal for a game that is more mature than it used to be with a clear direction on what to be included in sets.
