Article 30: RUN!! Waters are everywhere!
Well, sorry for this delay. I didn't have time from Monday until today to type this article...oh well, guess Water week have to be extend.
Anyway, WELCOME to Water week. As usual, I would have...
1. Card Review
2. Theme Article
3. HOW to build? Article
4. "Deck Change" article
in a theme week. Now, let's kickstart with the theme article...What the heck is Water in this game??
The first impression of using "Water" in a game would be the sea, and what's living in the sea (Fish, Shells, Whales, Corals, Serpent...). There're total of 159 Water main-type monsters in this game (with many of them from old Volume sets), with the range of the sub-type from Fish, Reptile, Aqua, and Sea Dragon in majority and some Plants (and of course other sub-type...). I would not go into all of the details on the monster, but generally, the Water monsters have the following effects:
1. Bounce - Water main-type mosnters are one of the two types of monster that have this effect (the other being Rock sub-type). Well, the waves can bring stuff off and on shore, so they also can bring stuff back to hand.
2. Destruction - As you see in the Asian Tsunami, Waves could also be dangerous. If they get big, they could just wash away anything in their path. Water have a mass destructor ([Leviadragon - Daidaros]), and one that use the result from the wave: epidemics, to kill monsters ([Tribe Infecting Virus]).
Although both effects were vestile in the game, Water combine to have one of the best field control in the game. Not only that, Water can create Illusions, can create devastration, and certainly can pissed off opponent. Well, in a game that not much "general theme" is given for each main-type, there could not be much saying "This and this did that also, and it's NOT Water", no it's not...and who cares??
Well, when talking about Water, it don't limit to the numerous Beasts and Fishes. Three Magic/Trap cards stand out as shown as power of Water.
Number 1 is of course the center of Water: the lost city in the middle of the ocean, [Atlantis]. This card does not show much of the theme of Water, through.
Number 2 is the ultimate [Tidal Wave]. It wipe out everything, period. This shows enough of how crazy Water can get, right??
Number 3 is [Tornado Wall], well, it shows that things can be hidden underwater...
As Ryouta Kajiki shows in the anime, Water can do anything, in real life or in the game. It can hide things, it can destruct things, it can just carry things and pass on and onto memory.
Next time, we would rebuild the Water Structure deck.
