Article 24: Baron's deck analysis #1: WhiteMagician's Amazoness Deck My first general game article of 2005... This time, after deciding on how to do it over a month...I have finally decide how to fix decks that people e-mail me: by analyzing what's wrong/what's right with the deck. I decide to do one deck per week if I got one...or just do one of my own if I don't. You can ALWAYS e-mail me @ redbaronii@hotmail.com for deck helps...but I may not reply to all of them since I don't have time to analyze every decks...and here're something that I consider... Let's start with a deck that I personally want to fix...the e-mail date back to 1/12, too sad that I don't have much time devoted on that department. REMEMBER one thing, I'm NOT the best deck builder in this world, nor I'm the best deck fixer. This is just for your infos, and remember one thing, don't EVER cookie cut decks off my site since...you would not play it well anyway... Let's now look at the e-mail I got LONG time ago... Oh well...I would look at everything.
Monsters-19 Well, first I would always start at monsters. With this deck being an Amazoness deck, we would always first chose monsters with [Amazoness] in its name. 3x Paladin and 3x Swordswoman is a MUST, so that's good. Amazoness Tiger is a "Legend" monster (I'm using M:tG terms here...oh well...), but with no way to search him from the deck, 3x is not a problem...but wait... However, here began some of my problem. 19 monsters are just too much of a deck. So, what's the first to cut?? Well, monsters that don't support what the deck does ("Same name rushing"). Unfriendly Amazon is NOT a [Amazoness] monsters, so that's a big NO NO when building an Amazoness deck. Also, Blowpiper do not have a very good effect, so that's out also. Amazoness have a little problem that it do not have enough attack power, so, [Command Knight] is need to boost the power of the weak Warriors. Now, for tribute monster. I don't get why the deckbuilder use [Guardian Angel Joan] while there're better one-tribute monsters to replace it. One of the tributes that can be consider in this deck is [Freed the Matchless General], another one is [Jinzo]. Since I want this deck to be as original as possible, I would choose [Freed] since it can search monsters from your deck quicker. At last, ALWAYS add a monster remover...so, [Exiled Force], [DDWL] or [TIV]. I recommend [Exiled Force] since it can be search by [RotA] and maximize the card usage of the deck. People could ALWAYS add [DDWL] or [D.D. Assilant] to the deck for removal...but, since I want to be original... Now it's time for Magic cards. The deck author ask a question to whether use more [RotA] or not. My answer is definitly YES. With [RotA] still a semi-restricted card, that card is the best abuse card (and best card in any type of Warrior deck). 2x is a big MUST. [Amazoness Spellcaster], the only Magic card that specific [Amazoness] monsters, is not that good of a card. The card can always top-deck when opponent have no monsters with higher attack strength than yours (so you would NOT need it). I would choose to drop one. Now, let's look at the power boosting cards. One A. Force is enough...so that stay. I saw [Fusion Blade] and [Thunder Blade] together. I would say here, one big rule of using equipments, if they do the SAME thing, use the BETTER one. Double up [Fusion Blade] (or, replace a [Fusion Blade] over [TB]). At last, Megamorph is added to the deck. However, I do not like that card...but oh well, that depends on personal perference. At last, I notice something that many players don't do: monster removal as Magic. Although you may always say that would mix in Control elements, but, I always like 1-2 removal per deck, especially, [Earth Crush] or [Nobleman of Crossout]. Since the [Amazoness] are weak, removal could help clear the path of the victory. At last...where're [Snatch Steal] and [Change of Heart]...and [Tempest]... At last, it's Traps. I must say one thing, ALL COUNTER TRAPS EXCEPT [SOLEMN JUDGMENT] SUCKS!! I never get why people always use [SST8] (the English text HAD BEEN ERRATAED...). 7-Tools is a mediocre Counter Trap, so that's out also. [Dramatic Rescue] have only very limit use, so, cut that card to one (it's NEEDED, however). Also, ALWAYS add [Ring of Destruction]...well, although that card is hard to find...but, that card is POWERFUL. I would choose [Waboku] over [Shadow Spell] (although would take [S. Armor] over both...), since Shadow Spell is also a mediocre card... I hope this help people on ideas on how to build an Amazoness deck, especially on the monsters. If you still have question, e-mail me, go into my forum and PM me...whatever... The final version... Monsters-17
